Many ancient Arab tribes settled in Al-Ula,
the most famous of which is Adrah, Beli, Beni Sahkr and Juhaina.
All people of Al-Ula belong in one way or another to one of
these major tribes. During the pre-Islamic and first Islamic
eras, Arab tribes spread on the edges of Al-Qura, Sogya and Al-Jazel
Valleys. Tribe and clan life dominated the public and social
life in the Arabian Peninsula in general and during pre-Islamic
periods in particular. Beli tribe, which is descended from
Kaidah, lived in the area surrounding Al-Ula from the west and
south. Enza and Bani Sahkr tribes live south and east of Al-Ula,
while Beli Adrah and Faqir tribes live in north and northeast of
Al-Ula. Al-Ula as a city was mainly composed of Adrah and Beni
Sahkr tribes in addition to some tribes that part of Harb.
